Ashridge House Wedding

By swalford

Here are a few pictures from a recent wedding at Ashridge House in Berkhamstead. The wedding of the lovely bride Michelle, her 6 bridesmaids, mum and aunt so a total of 9 hair and makeup’s completed in 4 hours. They all looked absolutely amazing in and no doubt had a wonderful day.

Michelle chose a smokey charcoal and silver eye, defined with lots of liner and lashes, she also wanted an elegant yet modern hairstyle that represented her fun and lighthearted personality as well as complimented her dress and the gorgeous setting.

The bridesmaids were all in a deep burgundy dress which was perfect for a Winter wedding, the rich colour commanded a strong defined socket line (eye) so we chose a gorgeous sparkly berry shade by Morphe cosmetics and a glamorous set of lash extensions to finish the look. The hair was in a side bun and adorned with a sparkly crystal and silver hair comb.

Here what the bride had to say after the wedding

2015 Bridal makeup & Hair

By swalford

collage2015 Brides-to-be should start to think about makeup and hair looks for the upcoming wedding, getting a trial date booked in is essential as you want to see how the look is going to come together on the day. The option to try various hairstyles and makeup looks is ideal because the look you initially loved might not suit your face shape, complexion and hair type.

I advise my brides-to-be, to research hairstyles and makeup looks that they like, put a scrap book/pinterest together on what they think goes with the theme and style of the wedding, wedding dress, wedding venue. The overall look must compliment every aspect of the day. I can then help create the perfect look for the bride and the bridesmaids as well as mums.

So really, if you’re getting married in the Spring/Summer you need to be having a trial soon (next few weeks) if you haven’t already! This will allow you enough time to prepare your hair and skin so it’s at its best for your special day when all eyes are on you. contact info@themakeupgirl.co.uk to book your trial.

Here’s what one of my lovely brides from July this year has to say about her hair and makeup for her wedding day.

2 Minute Makeup

By swalford

Let’s face it,  as we get older we can no longer get away with the things we once did for example drinking on a school night, skipping on sun cream and essential skincare and for most women like me, getting away with wearing zero makeup.

But what are you supposed to do when you’ve got kiddies to look after, a household to keep in shape and a busy work schedule to juggle, finding time to yourself is impossible.  Well I’ve put together a quick 2 Min No-makeup Makeup routine especially designed for busy-mums or those who can spare very little time on their makeup in the mornings.

Step 1 – dab a little concealer under the eyes (or where needed)

Step 2 – a large kabuki brush apply a thin layer of mineral foundation (or liquid)

Step 3 – using an angled brush apply black/brown shadow to fill brows

Step 4 – using same brush apply a little of the shadow close to the lash line (or pencil)

Step 5 – apply a little mascara

Step 6 – Dust blush or bronzer on the face (concentrating on cheeks)

Step 7 – apply lipstick or gloss of your choice

Quick and easy, you’ll feel  awake and ready to face the world!

Products used

Jane Iredale pressed foundation in Latte, MAC Moisture rich concealer in NC42, MAC Carbon shadow as liner and on brows, Rimmel mascara black, MAC Harmony blush, MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick.
