It isn’t very often that I have to dress up whilst I am working but this weekend it was a friends wedding at which I was a guest aswell. Jackie looked radiant and loved her hair and make-up! She felt like a “princess” and was delighted with the result!

These are the essential beauty must haves that I carry in my make-up bag and will not leave home without!
Fist of all Dior Show Mascara, undoubtedly the best lengthening, voluminous and long lasting mascara on the market. Doesn’t smudge or turn gloopy.
Secondly I just cannot live without the Mac Cremestick nude lip pencil in Creme O Spice it’s a perfect colour for most skin tones and on the days you don’t fancy a heavily made up look, just a hint of lip pencil with a lip balm can add that all important warmth!
I line my eyes with the Clinique Quick Eyes creme liner and for someone who wears contact lenses and has ultra sensitive eyes this liner it perfect! Doesn’t smudge (only if you want it to) or irritate the eyes and most importantly once applied you don’t need to re-apply in a hurry!! Very long lasting.
For kissable soft lips I use Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream it also great for dry skin patches on the hands and face!
And finally I use MAC Harmony Blush on my cheeks and I have been using this particular colour and brand for about……..11 years!! Of course now and again I change my blush but always come back to MAC…ahhhhhh.
I love my job! Because although I’m happily married and have a daughter I still get the chance to occasionally wear a tiara and wedding accessories….don’t think this is strange it’s perfectly normal for girls who love sparkle and diamonds…(I must have been a magpie in a former life!) I just can’t resist trying out the products before I recommend them to my brides…..(don’t worry I don’t do my weekly food shop in one, I just prepare breakfast and take my daughter to nursery in a diamante encrusted tiara)
If you’re struggling finding the right accessories on a budget the check out this website their products are fab and a fraction of what some companies are charging!

Well what can I say but that I am truly sold on the idea of not having chemicals on my skin everyday. Mineral foundation and make up is so pure that you can actually sleep in it! (though this is no excuse to not follow a cleanse & tone routine!)
On my recent trip to a well known health spa I was offered the opportunity to have a “free make-over” using mineral make up and being the sceptic that I am, I thought there is no way the make-up artist will achieve full coverage on my skin…I was wrong it looked wonderful and since I have abandoned my usual liquid foundation in favour of Id Bare Minerals
I have been using Id Bare Minerals eyeshadows and blushers on my brides and they work well with liquid foundations too but over the weekend I used the complete kit on one bride -to-be and the results were WOW…watch the gallery space for images. The starter kit in the picture above is about £45 and includes all you need to get you glowing!!!

Hello everyone and thank you for visiting the new look website I hope that we have managed to achieve what we set out to with the makeover of the website! I would like to thank Phil Smith from A Million Monkeys who has been a true professional and has managed to work to my brief in re-creating the logo, branding and setting the style for The Make up Girl I am truly thrilled as I didn’t stress one tiny bit (as those who know me know that I can stress unnecessarily) I left all the design work in Phil’s capable hands and I am definitely pleased with the end result!! And as a perfectionist….that is saying something.
Keep an eye on this page as there will be some interesting and inspirational info added over the coming weeks and months!
